Reading Charts
Have you ever wanted to knit something but the pattern included a chart…and that was the end
of that? Fear not, intrepid knitter, as help is here! In this class, I will demystify charts for lace,
colorwork, cables and textured stitches to help you tackle any project with confidence. You can
do it. I have faith in you!
For this class, you will need to bring:
A pencil or pen for notes
A cast on swatch of 40 stitches using DK or Worsted weight yarn (using size 5 or size 6 needles;
leftover yarns are great for this—at least 30 grams of yarn for this. More than one color is OK.)
Additional yarn in a color that highly contrasts your main sample color(s); at least 10-15 grams

| Instructor Bio: | Hello! I’m Joanna, I’ve been making for most of my life. The women in my mother’s family have always sewn, knit and crocheted—my great-grandmother was an amazing seamstress and dressmaker and many (although sadly, not all) of these skills were passed down through my mother to me. When I was young, my grandmother taught me how to knit and I discovered fine fibers when I picked up knitting again before my two boys were born. I was drawn to the colors and textures of the yarns of indie dyers as well as the textures of Merino, Alpaca, Silk, Bluefaced Leicester and Bamboo. I love creating products that are unique and useful—and I love creating new colors that you won’t find anywhere else. Every product that you find here is handmade or handdyed by me in my home studio in South Windsor, Connecticut. |
